This course aims at Marine Engineering who are expected to supervise and/or implement the on board operate electrical, electronic and control systems, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment and manage trouble-shooting, restoration of electrical and electronic control equipment to operation condition.
COURSE SUBJECTS:
Automation and Control systems;
Power Management systems, Marine LV Power plants;
Generator and distribution systems, Generator Excitation systems, AVR;
Transformers, Electric Motors features. Troubleshooting and repair;
Circuit Breakers, Contactors, Relays, Protective devices. Features and control elements;
Programmable Logic Controllers;
Maintenance and repair;
Safety Procedures and Risk Assessment;
Schematics (Reading and Understanding);
Practical exercises and assessment. Electrical troubleshooting labs, insulation test, measurement labs.
Course overview:
This course is in line with the minimum requirements as laid down in section A-III/1, A-III/2 and A-III/3 of the STCW code. And for electrical, electronic and control system at the “Operational level” and “Management level”.
