Novel boxship design makes debut

An innovative new containership design has debuted in Japan. Imoto Lines has recently taken delivery of its largest ship to date, the 136 m long, 540 teu Natori which comes with a spherical accommodation block at the front of the vessel. Built by Kyokuyo Shipyard the accommodation block is designed, the yard says, to reduce wind resistance. The shipyard has built car carriers with similar bow designs in the past.
