Lukoil starts low sulphur bunker supplies at Russian port

Russian marine fuels supplier Lukoil-Bunker has started supplying emission control area (ECA) compliant fuel from the country's northwestern port of Murmansk.

The fuel, developed by parent company Lukoil, will be supplied to ships sailing to ECA zones including the North Sea, Baltic Sea and the English Channel.

Lukoil last year launched a hybrid-type bunker product, called the TSE, which claims to contain a sulphur content of not more than 0.10% as required under ECA rules.

New requirements imposing a 0.10% sulphur limit on bunker fuels used in ECAs took effect from the start of this year.
