DNV GL launches new version of port clearance software

Port clearance can be a complex and time-consuming process, with costly consequences for shipowners if it is not completed meticulously and accurately. The release of DNV GL’s Navigator Port 2 software brings the world’s number one port clearance software to a new level of usability, with a completely new and intuitive structure and interface.

Maritime software

The new Navigator Port 2 is a consequence of last year’s merger of DNV and GL. “Coming together as DNV GL, we have become one of the biggest and most innovative maritime software providers in the world,” says Torsten Büssow, Director Maritime Software, DNV GL. Worldwide, 300 customers and 4,000 vessels use DNV GL’s different maritime software tools.

Navigator Port 2, previously called DNV Navigator, has taken a leap forward in ease-of-use. The interface has been improved. It is now more intuitive and efficient, with a work-oriented process that is easier to understand and navigate within. This increased usability will not only save time in the actual port clearance process, but will also save resources in terms of training new users and implementation.

Efficient operations

“With today’s increasingly complex regulations, shipowners are realising that they cannot continue with their old manual systems for port clearance. In order to operate efficiently, they are relying on our innovative software solutions for the maritime industry,” says Tom Fiksdalstrand, Product Manager, Navigator Port, DNV GL.

Navigator Port is the world’s market-leading port clearance software and is used on more than 2,500 vessels worldwide. Customer feedback shows that Navigator reduces paperwork by up to 90%, simplifies and speeds up ship-to-shore reporting, ensures smoother port clearance, reduces delays and possible penalties in connection with port calls and leads to safer navigation.

“This is quite an exciting time for us,” says Mr Büssow. “We’re maintaining our focus on providing high investment security for current and future customers. We have responsive, personal and professional support teams and our focus is on the users and on creating robust, user-friendly systems.”
