Europe‘s engine power plants industry forms new association - EUGINE

The leading European manufacturers of engine power plants have decided to set up a new European association to be known as EUGINE.

The new association shall contribute to the ongoing discussion around the energy concept of the future, and present engine power plants as an important part of the energy mix that provides reliable, affordable, sustainable and modular energy.

During the first Board meeting of EUGINE, the members elected Kari Hietanen, Executive Vice President of Wärtsilä, as President of the association. The elected Vice-Presidents are Dr. Michael Haidinger, (Member of the Executive Board of Rolls-Royce Power Systems), Justin O’Flynn (General Manager Europe, Middle East & Russia of Cummins Power Generation) and Willy Schumacher (Managing Director of Caterpillar Energy Solutions).

Kari Hietanen : “With a variety of fuels, engine power plants play an essential role in a modern power mix. They are ideal for adapting quickly and flexibly to changing supply and demand situations. This type of flexibility is essential for enabling further increases in the share of renewables, and for allowing a more decentralized power supply,” says Kari Hietanen. “To explain the advantages of this technology we need a strong European voice – this is why we have set up EUGINE.”

The list of EUGINE members includes the following companies: ABB, Bosch, Cummins Power Generation, Caterpillar Energy Solutions, EC Power, Edina, GE Energy, Liebherr, MAN Diesel & Turbo, Marelli Motori, Rolls-Royce Power Systems, Senertec and Wärtsilä, Additionally, AMPS the UK national industry association has joined the new association.
