Conrad Shipyard delivers first of two liftboats

OCTOBER 18, 2013 — Conrad Shipyard, Morgan City, LA, has delivered the M/V J.B. Moffett, the first of two 200 ft class liftboats, to Alliance Offshore of Larose, LA.

The J.B. Moffett is equipped with CAT C18 main propulsion coupled with Twin Disc MGX516 gears delivering 600 HP each at 1,800 RPM and is propelled by by two 60 in x 50 in Troost four bladed propellers.

There are eight Braden C400 gearboxes per leg, driven by auxiliary Cat C18 engines. The CAT C9 gensets are rated at 175 kW.

The vessel is equipped with one TechCrane International F60 fixed boom and one TechCrane L200 125 ton lattice boom.

The interior accommodates 43 with mess seating for 24.

Alliance Offshore believes quality personnel plus quality equipment equate to the delivery of consistent quality service to its clients and its president, Kelly B. Steele Sr., says, "this addition to the fleet only reinforces that equation."

Mr. Steele indicates that Alliance's expectations are to add at least two newly built vessels to its fleet every year over the next ten years.

Conrad Shipyard is currently working on the Moffett's sister vessel which will be named the M/V Miss Lynne and delivered later in fourth quarter 2013.
