This training course is required by all crew members employed or engaged on seagoing ships to which the ISPS Code applies. These regulations are in force and subject to the Port State Control inspections from January 1, 2014.

Course objectives:

Security related familiarization; and
Proficiency in security awareness.
On successful completion of the course, candidates will have a good awareness of maritime security and be more aware of issues involving security when alongside, at anchor and at sea. It will equip all seafarers with minimum standard competence in security awareness as outlined in the ISPS Code, Chapter XI-2 Solas Convention, section A VI/6 of the STCW Code and IMO Model Course 3.27. Circular STCW 1998-001 (Responsibilities of Companies), outlines the essential responsibilities of Companies in terms of the STCW Convention. That Convention was amended in 2010 (The Manila Amendments) and some of these come into force on 1st January 2014.
