A trainee successfully completing this course will be able to use Radar and ARPA for his navigational watch. Those who successfully complete this course should be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge, skill and understanding of Radar and ARPA navigation and to undertake the duties of a navigational watch officer defined by STCW Code, as amended.The program meets the latest requirements of STCW Convention and IMO Model Course 1.07 “Radar Navigation, Radar Plotting and Use of ARPA”.

Course contents:

* Describe The Basic Theory and Operation of a Marine Radar System
* Set Up and Operate Radar in Accordance with Manufacturer's Instructions
* Perform Manual Radar Plotting
* Use Radar to Ensure Safe Navigation
* Use Radar to Avoid Collisions or Close Encounters
* Describe an ARPA System
* Operate an ARPA System.
