The Nautical Institute approved training course. Training is a mix of theoretical sessions and practical exercises on Kongsberg DP simulators.

Content

1) How to set up and operate a DP system, including special functions as Auto track and follow target, sensors and associated Position reference systems.
2) Types of DP operations. All elements of the operation must be adequately covered. This includes planning using all relevant information, contingency planning, worksite approach, use of checklists, communication, DP watch schedule, DP hand over and DP logbook requirements.
3) The limitations of the DP systems during operations in shallow and deep waters.
4) Main conditions that will cause degraded or emergency status to prevail.
5) Various information received and recognise warnings and alarms associated with catastrophic failures.
6) Actions with failures and take appropriate action to stabilise the vessels position after a failure.
